Creating a great stage design takes time, thought and creativity, especially if you are opperating on a limited budget like most churches are. It always helps to have some of the essential equipment in place such as lighting. I love brainstorming and coming up with creative ways to design the stage around a sermon series to help people engage in worship and help further tell the story of God. God makes beautiful things and being made in Gods image our desire for beauty and narrative is built into us. Stage design can help create an enviroment that is condusive to worship and helps foster an
atmosphere where we feel comfortable praising God. Here are some projects that I have had the chance to create.

PORTRAITS OF FAITH

For this sermon series we hung picture frames all over the walls and through the building. We spelled out the sermon series with larger golden frames along the back wall.

This is what it looked like from the sound booth.

JESUS REVEALED

This project was created using canvas and paint. Each square is a separate canvas. The project was built for a series and we slowly revealed one square at a time to finally unveil the entire image.

This backdrop was also created to be portable so we used it up at a High school camp.

We covered each canvas with black cloth and revealed 1 square every sunday until easter.

This stage design was created for a new sermon series called "Seriously Jesus". The framing was made out of wood that was painted black. The reflective white material is called coroplast which is a corrugated plastic material. We used LED bars to back light the squares. We discovered in the process that the squares light up much better when there is coroplast on the top and back as well creating a box of light.

For Christmas we used silhouettes to tell the birth narrative. The first week we had a prominent star and nothing else. The second week we added just the mountain on the left and the wise men on the camels. The third week we added the middle hill and the shepherds in the field. The fourth week added the manger scene with Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus
