MADE TO WORSHIP

SANCTIFICATION

 

Sanctification is the process in which God makes His people holy as he is holy.  It is a life long process of spiritual growth by which God shapes us in the image of Christ.  God calls his people to holiness, to be set apart to live for his glory.  Sanctification also involves the process of being washed, cleansed, or refined by God as we learn how to follow after Christ.  We are being made holy by the power of the Holy Spirit living within us, it is not something we can do on our own.  Our obedience to the Holy Spirit is our response to sanctification as God leads us in understanding how to live for Him.

 

1 Thessalonians 4:3-7 (edited)

"For this is the will of God, your sanctification..... that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor.  For God has not called us for impurity, but in holiness."

 

2 Timothy 2:21

"Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work."

 

1 Peter 1:2

"according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in the sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood:

 

Sanctification is a reflection of the trinitarian nature of God, we are being molded, cleansed and shaped in the image of Christ, through the power of the Holy Spirit, for the glory of God the father.
