JUSTIFICATION

JUSTIFICATION

Justification is the act in which God makes people right with Him.  Justification is a free gift that God gives to us as sinners when we but our trust and faith in Jesus Christ and accept him as our lord and savior.  God reconciles us to himself and makes a way for a new relationship through the sacraficial death and ressurection of Jesus.  Justification is through faith alone and is not earned by works.  The grace of God allows for our faith in Christ to be possible.

Romans 3:22-26

"The righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,  whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins.  It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

Justification is neccisary because all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.  It is initiated through the revelation of God and is given as a gift of grace through Christ.  Our response is to put our faith and trust in Christ.

Justification reveals the righteousness of God and His desire to redeem creation.

Galations 2:16

"Yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified."

Ephesians 2:8-10

"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them."

We are not justified or made right with God through our own doing.  You cannot do enough good things or be a good enough person to earn justification.  Our relationship is reconciled and made right through faith in Christ.

"Sweetly Broken"

Jeremy Riddle

To the cross I look, to the cross I cling
Of it's suffering I do drink
Of it's work I do sing

For on it my Savior both bruised and crushed
Showed that God is love
And God is just

At the cross You beckon me
You draw me gently to my knees, and I am
Lost for words, so lost in love,
I’m sweetly broken, wholly surrendered

What a priceless gift, undeserved life
Have I been given
Through Christ crucified

You’ve called me out of death
You’ve called me into life
And I was under Your wrath
Now through the cross I’m reconciled

In awe of the cross I must confess
How wondrous Your redeeming love and
How great is Your faithfulness

At the cross You beckon me
You draw me gently to my knees, and I am
Lost for words, so lost in love,
I’m sweetly broken, wholly surrendered
