HOPE
In general hope means to wish for and fully excpect for something to happen some time in the future. For Christians hope is faith that God will do in the future what he has promised in the past. Our hope rests in the ressurection of our Lord Jesus Christ and the promise of His return. Hope allows us to live through times of suffering because we have the joy of knowing th end of the story. Our hope is lived out because we beleieve in the ressurection of Jesus, that He has conquered both sin and death, and that we will one day live with God in heaven. Our hope is also validated and reassured through the promise and prescence of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
1 Peter 1:3-5
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time."
Colossians 1:26-28
"The mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to his saints. To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ."
Romans 5:1-5
"Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us."
